Intermediality in contemporary avant-garde cinema: Blurring media boundaries in Jean-Luc Godard’s films

Drawing on the premises of avant-garde cinema (experimentation, transformation, liminality), this paper seeks to examine how intermediality functions as a form experimentation in contemporary cinema. It also bring new insights regarding nature medium and impact spectator. Examples will be drawn from Jean-Luc Godard’s films First Name: Carmen (1983) Film Socialisme (2010).
